During my stay, I was at dubai international financial center (a major global financial center with a number of international financial institutions, insurance companies and law firms). During my internship, I assisted lawyers in drafting law, reviewing documents, and I was even able to participate in the real estate completion of an apartment in the Burj Khalifa. My internship allowed me to experience «professional life» in another country and discover a different culture. I participated in a two-week internship at a regional law firm in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The firm, BSA Ahmed Bin Hazeem, specializes in litigation, arbitration and real estate and has 9 offices in 6 countries. «My internship shows that I`m proactive, traveling 4,500 miles to experience a two-week internship in the middle of my master`s degree, which goes a long way in the eyes of future employers.» I would like to thank the university`s alumni and donors who supported the scholarship program. Without your support, I would not have been able to finish my internship, otherwise I would have had debts. I am eternally grateful for the two-week experience I had. I hope that one day I will be able to support a scholarship program to give someone like me the opportunity to do an internship. The skills I wanted to develop during my internship have come true: my internship shows that I am proactive, traveling 4,500 miles to experience a two-week internship in the middle of my master`s degree, which goes a long way in the eyes of future employers. My internship will benefit me in that if I wanted to move abroad for work, I have already experienced what it is and I can talk about it. The more experience there is in the legal field, the better.
In the near future, I hope that my internship in the UAE can open the door to more legal work experience in the UK, which I hope will eventually lead to an apprenticeship contract (fingers crossed). I`ve been a student all my life, so it was definitely a shock to the system to make sure I arrived at 8:30 a.m. and then worked until 6:30 p.m. When 5 p.m. arrived, I was extremely exhausted. What helped me in this regard was having another intern with whom I am now very good friends. I also believe it`s extremely important to have a supportive environment that I`ve had, including the HR team. At LY Law, we know how valuable practical experience is as we learn the ropes in the legal field.

Our internships are unpaid and we do not offer compensation for accommodation. My internship allowed me to work with a company with local knowledge and experience. I was able to discover the culture of the United Arab Emirates and learn how law was practiced in the United Arab Emirates. I was able to work on something new every other day. This allowed me to prioritize and quickly adapt to another area of law. I received advice from people who had already experienced what I had experienced.
This is invaluable because I am able to get advice when and when I want. I enjoyed working with people of 15 different nationalities. It allowed me to understand not only the culture of the UAE, but also the culture of the people I was working with. I enjoyed learning more about local customs. My enthusiasm allowed me to have the opportunity to accompany one of the «local» lawyers (a lawyer born in the United Arab Emirates) to a real estate transaction for an apartment sold in the tallest building in the world (Burj Khalifa). The transaction took place in the government offices in the Emirates Tower and it was really interesting to see a real estate transaction take place in the UAE. The view was amazing as I could see the Burj Khalifa. The transaction involved the «normal» sales process, which involves the exchange of contracts and money. However, the twist was that it was completed with the buyer and seller in an office and took about 2 hours. I was also taken to a number of government offices during my tenure. I enjoyed being taken to dinner by the lawyer I was accompanying, as well as one of the financiers who was really sort of one of them.
