The Max M. Fisher College of Business is the business school of Ohio State University, a public research university located in Columbus, Ohio. The Fisher campus is located in the north end of the university, in a partially enclosed business campus adjacent to the St. John Arena. It consists of brick buildings arranged in a quadrangle. The 370,000-square-foot (34,000 m2) complex is the largest multi-building project the university has ever undertaken. [3] Fisher is a founding member of AACSB. You can customize and enhance your courses by choosing from 12 different specializations and over a hundred minors at Ohio State. To meet the requirements of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) at Fisher, take courses in the following areas: «Everyone is ready to support the student experience» and «learning takes place on many levels, from the classroom to the pizza box to lunch with a local business leader who serves as a mentor. The professors and the university experience exceed the high expectations I have set for myself,» says one student.
«I`m overwhelmed by the quality of the teachers,» says another. Most come from world-class business schools and offer «an excellent blend of industry experience and academic integrity.» «I wake up every day excited to go to school,» says one student. The administration offers students many choices. General Education (Gen Ed) courses are an integral part of your undergraduate business education. Gen Ed`s goal is to help you develop the skills, competencies and breadth of knowledge to become an educated and productive citizen. The number of credit hours required for the specialization varies between 15 and 26, depending on the specialization. The number of semesters required to complete the specialization also varies, ranging from 2 to 5 semesters. You should review the individual specialization requirements on the curriculum worksheet with your academic advisor to create a study plan.
All business students, regardless of their specialization, are required to take a series of core business courses. Core courses in business include financial management and accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, logistics management, organizational behavior, international trade, business law, trade statistics, business analysis, applied business skills, and strategic management. Founded in 1916 as the College of Commerce and Journalism,[4] the college was renamed after Max M. in 1993. Fisher, a 1930 Ohio state graduate who led efforts to donate $20 million to the college. [5] It is designed to enroll approximately 120 full-time students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) each year. [1] It also has nearly 8,000 full-time students[6] and nearly 83,000 living alumni. [5] The six-building campus (designed by Kallmann, McKinnell & Wood, Cooper, Robertson & Partners with Karlsberger Architecture as reference architect) is modeled on its tallest building, the characteristic Fisher Hall, which is the same height as the university library and stands on an axis with it. This visually connects the college to OSU`s larger campus. The organization of undergraduate, graduate studies and administration buildings is grouped around a traditional green campus that promotes the social diversity of different student bodies and faculties. The brick architecture reinterprets the neoclassical tradition found throughout OSU. Cooper, Robertson & Partners designed both Fisher Hall and Pfahl Hall, the executive education building.
Kallmann, McKinnell & Wood designed Gerlach Hall, Schoenbaum Hall and Mason Hall. RTKL was hired as a hospitality consultant for the Blackwell Inn. Karlsberger handled all planning documents and acted as building manager for the entire complex. You can also use your voting hours to pick up one of OSU`s 100+ miners. Minors are great for expanding your skills, pursuing interests outside of business, and individualizing your education! The 4-year business plan offers room for a minor subject (usually 5 additional courses). Talk to your academic advisor about smaller options. Fisher`s MBA program allows students to adjust their focus. After learning the basic functions of the business, students can choose from elective courses to refine their knowledge. Another component of the program is the Professional Leadership and Development Program, which includes seminars, workshops, and trainings that differentiate Fisher MBAs in the workforce.
