The college will review your academic profile to ensure you are qualified. For applicants who do not meet the academic requirements, the chances of admission decrease significantly, regardless of their strength elsewhere. Most students apply for university via Early Action (EA) or Regular Decision (RD). Students can apply the regular decision to as many schools as they want and, in most cases, they can do the same with Early Action, unless they apply to a school with a restrictive early action policy. The deadline for EI applications is November 15 and offers of admission will be sent in early February. Deadlines for the DR application are usually in early January, with offers of admission being sent on April 1. The joint application is a consortium of more than 600 colleges and universities. Each year, more than 3.5 million joint applications are submitted. If you are applying through the joint application, students must submit the joint application, a personal essay, and a reed writing supplement, which can also be emailed to admission@reed.edu.
The Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success is a new application platform developed by more than 150 institutions that share the vision that the application process should be accessible to all students. The coalition app allows students to collect materials in their «locker» during their high school years that can be shared with their support network and the schools they apply to if those schools request it. If you are applying as part of the coalition application, students must submit the coalition application, a reed supplement, and a selected item in the student`s locker. This element can be an essay, another written or other original works. Admitted first-year students can request to defer entry for one year once they have completed their $400 non-refundable security deposit. Students wishing to submit a deferred application must email a detailed written schedule for the deferral year to admission@reed.edu no later than June 15 to the Vice-President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. Deferral requests will not be considered without filing. The graduate assessment, which is sent to students each fall, informs students of their progress toward the general requirements of the college. The overview of department and department requirements is the responsibility of each student. Students should discuss their specific needs with their advisors. Questions should be directed to the advisor regarding departmental and departmental requirements and to the registrar`s office regarding general university requirements.

First-year applicants, for whom Reed is the college of their choice, can apply under our mandatory Advance Ruling (ED) plan. Students can only apply for ED to one institution, although they can submit requests for early action or regular decision to other institutions. If admitted to Reed under the ED plan, students must withdraw all EA and DR applications from other colleges and not submit new applications. Next, the college reviews the holistic parts of your application to select from students who have passed Phase 1. Community Safety at Reed is responsible for overall safety on the Reed campus and publishes disclosures required by the Clery Act in the annual Fire Safety Report.
A physical copy of the report can be obtained from Reed`s Security Office in Building 28 West on the Reed Campus. If the deferral request is approved, the submitted deposit will reserve a spot in the following year`s entry class and will be used for the student`s first-year tuition at Reed. Students who receive a deferral year cannot enrol in another college or university on a full-time or part-time basis or apply to other colleges or universities. Students who benefit from a deferral year are encouraged to confirm their intention to enroll by submitting a $400 confirmation deposit to the admissions office by January 10 of the deferral year, which, like the registration deposit, will count towards the student`s first-year tuition at Reed. You can use it as a basis for creating school lists, improving your profile, and developing app strategies.
